Privacy policy

Short links, clear boundaries.

This policy explains what bit2url processes when you create a short link on bit2url.com or use the bit2url Chrome extension.

What bit2url processes

When you submit a URL, bit2url receives the URL you asked to shorten. The Chrome extension reads the active tab URL only after you click its toolbar button. It does not read page contents, form fields, cookies, or other tabs.

The service also receives standard request metadata needed to operate the API and limit abuse, such as an IP address supplied by the hosting platform. bit2url does not use this information for advertising or user profiling.

How links are stored

The destination URL and its short-link mapping are stored for up to one year. This is necessary for the short link to redirect to its destination. Mappings expire automatically after that period.

What bit2url does not collect

  • No account or sign-up information.
  • No analytics identifiers or advertising profiles.
  • No page content, browsing history, or background activity from the extension.
  • No payment, health, authentication, location, or contact data.
  • No cookies are required to create or use a short link.

Service providers

bit2url runs on Cloudflare Workers and Cloudflare KV. Cloudflare may process request metadata as part of hosting, security, and reliability operations. The short-link service does not sell submitted URLs or use them for advertising.

Your choices

You can choose whether to submit a URL. Do not submit confidential or sensitive URLs. Short links expire automatically; bit2url does not currently provide an account dashboard or self-service deletion control.

Security reminder: Only shorten links you are comfortable sending to a URL-shortening service. Always review a destination before opening it.
